Jennie, Her Horses & Her Rescues: A Golden Evening at Giracci Vineyards 🐴🐶🌅

There’s just something magical about golden hour, and when you pair it with horses, rescue pups, and a beautiful soul like Jennie, you get pure photo magic ✨📸. I had the joy of joining the always-inspiring Ashleigh Magnus Photography once again for one of her mentoring sessions, and this one took us to the breathtaking Giracci Vineyards and Farms in Williams Canyon, CA—a dream location full of rustic charm, golden light, and endless scenic beauty.

This session was all about Jennie and her four-legged family. Her horses—Checkers, Chester, and Carl—were the stars of the show alongside her two sweet dogs, Handsome and Lawson 🐕🐾. Checkers is a striking chestnut with a bold white blaze who loves to be in front of the camera (and knows he’s handsome 😄). Chester, another chestnut but solid in color, brought a calm and gentle energy to the shoot, while Carl, the dark bay, added depth and elegance to the trio. Each horse had their moment to shine as the warm sun dipped lower, wrapping everything in that buttery light that photographers dream of 🌞💛.

And then there were the pups! Both Handsome and Lawson are rescue dogs, and you could feel the love between them and Jennie. It was so heartwarming to see them tagging along, happy and content, weaving through the vineyards, ears flopping and tails wagging. The way they looked up at Jenny with those trusting eyes—ugh, it melted my heart 💘.

Jennie’s connection with her animals is undeniable. Watching her walk through the flowers with a horse by her side, or quietly play with her dogs, was like watching someone truly at home in the world. It felt less like a photo session and more like we were simply witnessing moments of real love and peace—moments where time slows down and the world just feels right 🍂🐎.

Golden hour graced us with its perfect timing, bathing the landscape in warm tones that danced across the horses’ coats and lit up the fields around us. Every snap of the shutter captured not just light, but emotion. The soft glow highlighted the deep bond Jenny shares with each animal—gentle touches, proud glances, and joyful, unscripted moments.

Being part of this shoot was such a gift. Ashleigh always brings out the best in her sessions, and I love getting to tag along, learn, and create alongside her. Jennie, her horses, and her pups made it unforgettable. Whether it was a playful nuzzle from Checkers or a snuggle from Lawson, every moment was authentic, peaceful, and beautifully wild.
